Apple is taking over get used to it.

well ofcoz its gonna be able to run on older phones. this just shows how bad prev iOS versions were. the hardware is good, but the software that should have been on it wasnt. and people were like "woooo!!! this phone is the shit"

its like having hardware thats an 8/10 with software that 4/10. then making software thats 8/10 to run on said phone and saying we doing something amazing.

Not being a Fanboy of either side a few things should be called out for...

First, Apple lets you upgrade 3GS and Iphone 4 but not all or newer feature are available on the older phones. Which is of course logical given the dating hardware. Jailbreak ... go!

On the plus side, that´s does represent little fragmentation thou and truth be told the build quality is there, the phones last quite a while.

Android on the other hand has all the "ton-a-load" phones coming out 3 in 3 months. Aside from the newer ones... the previous only get the newer odd named OS´s in some cases, which is lame. ROOT ROOT ROOT. WOOT did someone say high fragmentation rate?

Android is reportedly more "open" (debatable) and they are feature rich phones but aside from the flagships that cost the same of what the Iphone do, the build quality is shit.

So both facades do have their glass roofs per sé but it all boils down to the experience you prefer... which ecosystem you like, what you need out of a phone and how long you want to hold on to it.

For some reason Apple managed to get away with offering over-priced hardware that gets updated with a few extra features that should have been there already each year, people are willing to pay for it so they carry on doing it.

The thing that really annoys me is that the cost of the average phone has gone up about 200% or more. Ok so you can get cheaper ones, but your put under a lot of pressure to get one.

lol there is a massive difference between my iphone 4 running the latest os and an iphone 3gs running it the iphone 4 will insanely out perform the 3gs and the 4s will out perform my iphone 4 same is true of all phones ics on the latest phones will run it well but it may hinder older phones the guy who wrote the article doesn't understand technology

I love my iPhone 4, but there's no way I'm upgrading to iOS 6. I don't want a repeat of what happened with iOS 4 on the 3G. Yikes.

Look at the site, it's a blatant Apple fansite, so no way are you going to get an impartial comparison.

The reason why the latest ios is used on most iphones is since the hardware is all so similar. That is, incremental upgrades.

The reason for fragmentation on android is that you have phones ranging from 320x240 single cores, to 720p quad cores and everything in between. Adjusments have to be made

The 3GS will not support all feature of iOS 6. In my book, it will not have iOS 6

i have a htc inspire 4g and a iphone 32gb 4s but the size of the screen is tiny and i miss my htc big screen months later

iPhone 3GS and iPad 1 are not getting the exact iOS6 as the latest iDevices. and iOS6 sucks btw, it brings all the features that were already available on Android.

Am running cynogenmod 9 on various devices and I can tell you Apple iPhone, can't even scratch what you can do and achieve on Android and that is a fact!
