If aliens do exist they would be too far ahead of us or too behind . if we consider ther are too far ahead then britain weapons will be useless else if they are too behind they wont come . But still those weapons might come handy against terrorism i assume .

Didn't we already have anti-alien weapons? Thermonuclear warheads? If they can survive a 2Mt direct hit we shouldn't bother fighting.

I am really sorry to be pessimistic but BAE's Tyrannis (I assume that is what they are referring to) will not be of any use against a space faring civilisation. True, Tyrannis can dominate anything that America, China and Russia has at it's disposal regardless of what they haven't made public but we are talking about an advanced alien species.

Do these people in our government assume that visitors will be biological? Hockams Razor suggests that any extra-terrestrial visitor will be the result of a technological singularity. That is worrying, because if we humans had our own T.S. then it would advance more in one week than we managed in our 3 million year history. So imagine an alien T. S. that may have occurred millennia ago!

They'd likely have the technology to influence a star, increasing or decreasing it's output to freeze or boil a planet. A drone will not do much against that, but alas, probability does state that in our galaxy and beyond at least one civilisation achieved Singularity and as such, they are here already watching us. As we are still alive, their intentions are not nefarious and why should they be? What can machines achieve from Earth domination? There is more energy to be gained from all the stars, they have no need for Earth resources when neutron stars provide a multitude of more material and they have no reason to deal with us now before we become a threat... Because they will always be advancing faster than us.

Tyrannis will not scratch them, thankfully it appears that we don't need it to anyway. Now if only we spent that military cash on Fusion power research instead. Sigh.
