Additionally you're getting to screen sizes greater than 80" a TV is no longer really practical. I could see 8K home projectors becoming a thing, but having a 6 x 4 foot TV hanging on a wall isn't particularly appealing to most people. Unless you have an unusually short viewing distance you'd need a screen larger than 80" to notice a difference.

Also when it comes to console gaming 8K is useless. Unless people are gaming on a 100+ inch screen the difference would be minuscule and the console's resources would be far better off being used elsewhere.

The only real use I can see for 8K is on a 32"+ computer monitor, which sits a few feet in front of someone. Even then your PPI would be better than even a 17" 4K screen.

The problem i have with higher resolution screens is that playing lower res content will usually look worse than it otherwise would.

Scaling and interpolation is why DVD's look worse on a 1080P tv than on a 720p tv for example. Though i heard HD Blurays look pretty good on 4k TV's. If they can fix that issue i won't mind so much.

Also on YouTube there was a guy who tested an 8k monitor vs a 4k one for gaming, and aside from the obvious large performance drop there was hardly any difference quality wise. At least from what he said.

Yeah too early to buy into 8k, no content and much better ones will be around by the time there is, and won't be insanely priced.
