well of course hes gonna resign, the crook probably has billions invested for his and his familys entire life!!!!, he probably thought, well apple might decline any year now, seeing as android and other companys are catching up fast, and he probably thought to play chicken and run with his money while he still can and still being part of the company raking in more millions.

Here are a list of his visible achievements and contributions to the industry[stolen from a forum]:
One of the first successful computers that was actually ready to go out of the box. Might have been the first if they had more money at the time to speed development.
First successful machine with a really usable GUI. Yeah, Xerox was first, but couldn't be bothered to actually sell the things.
First successful laser printer. Along with PageMaker, eventually blew up the entire print industry. We had an offset shop in our building… they lasted 2 years.
First (semi) successful all-OO machine. Again, Smalltalk was there first, but it was nothing like NeXT.
First successful all-in-one consumer internet computer.
First really successful media player. Then internet music store. Together, iPod + iTuned blew up the music industry.
First really successful smart phone. In the process of blowing up the telephony world.
First successful tablet computer. In the process of blowing up the PC.

Very sad new for Apple fans and even though I am not a fan of Apple I wish Jobs all the best he has done an amazing job with apple since taking over the company again.
But the new guys in charge have a massive gap to fill and with Android and Windows Phone 7 now starting to take shape on the mobile market and Android and Windows 8 next year on tablets Apple are in need of a refresh of how the devices work as they are starting to become dated compared to android windows phone 7 and windows 8.

The one thing I do like about Apple is they have changed the mobile industry for the better even if I did not like the devices they have made both Microsoft and Google take notice of what they are doing and as customers we benefit from the choices we have today and Apple has made Microsoft sit up and take notice and we are now seeing a Microsoft of old that where leaders in the industry and they are now getting back to that stage with there new OS's and services.

But It that said there are now new fresh faces in charge of apple with there own ideas so this could work out even better for them but we will not know this until we see the Ipad 4 and Iphone 6 as 3 and 5 are already in development.

Should be a very interesting 10 years in the mobile and computing industry.

I wish Jobs all the best and I hope he recovers soon and he can enjoy his life with his family.

I may not like the man's company or products, but that I think that many are forgetting that the most unfortunate part about this is the fact that Pancreatic Cancer is for all intensive purposes a death sentence. This is no doubt him stepping away to focus on treatments and maybe even spend time with his family.

Will it affect the company as a whole? Absolutely it will but will it be for the worse? Not necessarily. This could well be the shot in the arm that helps to push the company over the edge to becoming even bigger leading the way to new innovative ideas. Maybe they'll get off their high horse and stop charging so bloody much for their systems and they become the dominant force in the home PC Market.

On the other-hand, maybe he really was that true technological visionary who's irreplaceable(though I very much doubt that).

At any Rate, I hope he continues the battle against cancer and prevails.

But I can honestly admit that I've never been impressed with a single Apple device. Outside of Iphone 4 having a different bodystyle, everything else about it is still the same ole' unevolved/old typical stuff. The Apple products successors also release in such small monthly gaps after the other, and it amazes me that even in this economy people still buy their overpriced stuff just to keep up with it!

I am a 100% Pure hater when it comes to apples/ macs and all that garbage. Steve Jobs is such a loser, and that turtleneck is the queerest thing I have ever seen. I have never ever had any respect for this piece of shit company. Know why? When I first saw one, they had a 1 button mouse!!!!!

I have never trusted them since I have seen that shit. Never will. I will never buy any apple products, and never have. I am smart enough to use real computers as most people are.

I also don't need a "smart phone"? Why? Because I am smart. I use a stupid phone because I know what I'm doing and can figure things out for myself without the use of a "smart phone" which is made for stupid people.
