The Man Cave Cinema Big Boom - Small Box The SVS SB-1000 Review

The Man Cave Cinema writes; SVS has the reputation in the home theater industry as the leading manufacturer of low cost high performance subwoofers.

When SVS asked us to review the SB-1000 a tiny 12 inch subwoofer we jumped all over it to see how a sub this small can go so deep and it doesn't break the bank.

We are here to tell you just one word... Surprised!

If you really like bass... check out the HT Tuba sub on YouTube. Basically the same sub you would find in an IMAX for your home. Simply stunning.

IMAX isn't really a good goal to aim for, those subs are designed for max SPL and room fill, not sound quality.

If you really like base, you get a couple TC-Sounds LMS 5400 Ultra drivers and stick them dual opposing into a custom Funky Waves enclosure with a 2400w MiniDSP PWR-DSP1 plate amp. Your neighbors will be ducking for cover under the dining room table when you turn it on.

Dayton Audio T1504A 15, that is!

My current sub is an HSU VTF 15" I picked it because of it's musical properties and it's a kick ass sub in it's own right but if I was truly looking for another sub and wanted an Imax like experience for the home it would be a Dayton!

None can compare to the low distortion and high output of the HT Tuba. Seriously you won't believe what it can do. Nothing compares, I mean nothing. All with less than 500 watts and less than 900.00 bucks.

The Sub i listed will play 9hz at 120db with practically zero audible distortion.

The HT Tuba is more of a mid bass woofer than a sub, it only plays down to about 35hz. It may be able to reach 130db or so at its peak but it only does so at around 55-60hz, at 35hz it would most likely be below 95db, at 25hz it would be near completely inaudible.

Both the JTR Captivator and Seaton SubMersive would be much better also, both can play down to about 12-15hz @ 100db+.

I have an SVS cylinder sub. It's a 20-39 model. 39" tall and goes down to 20htz. Uses a 12" sub. Pretty much a large Bazooka tube for the house. These things are bass monsters. Just as the article describes. Look up SVS on the AVS forums. They are a well known company. Highly popular sub. Great customer service also.

Ive heard them all, seriously. Nothing compares to anything like the HT Tuba. Home Theater Tuba.... it is beyond any other Sub...
